I contacted Williams a couple months ago with the question of mounting their sights on a 457. Person I spoke with wasn’t sure, but it didn’t sound promising and I know the CZ williams sight doesn’t clear the bolt handle on the 457 (I tried it). The Skinner works in the 457; I purchased a Lux with a Skinner installed by the original owner.
lighter fluid will remove a lot of different adhesives when removing things from. ex-library books, etc.It dries up and does no damage to books or paper and I. don't think it will hurt gun finishes. Test it in a hidden area and see. Dampen a paper towel with it and rub lightly, or use a microfiber cloth wet with it.
457 Lux vs Premium. I really thought I was happy with the depth of my 457 inventory but have started to have thoughts lately about adding one with iron sights to the lineup. Mainly, I'm thinking a Lux or Premium with 25" barrel. Mainly it will be a plinking rifle, maybe destined for an upgrade to a peep in the rear.
Bolt action. Long barrel , the varmint is a bull barrel, great for the bench, or shooting fish in a barrel. But not a field gun. Get either the trainor 24 inch, or the grand lux , 28 inch, that’s as quiet as you are going to get with SV ammo that will kill cleanly at over 50 yards.
That's what I tried with my CZ 455 training rifle. Or you could swap out barrels. However, keep in mind the stock is optimized for iron sights, so you won't get a good cheek weld with a scope. Personally, I'd stick with iron sights and get a different rifle for scoped use, budget permitting. With the introduction of the CZ 457 MTR, there is one more thing to consider: a match chamber. Because CZ follows the European CIP standards, our chambers are spec’d a bit tighter than the American SAAMI spec. CZ, being CZ, leans toward the minimum side of those specs on most models anyway. w7KT3.
